If you love surf music, you should check out Tsunami of Sound. They are a band that plays original instrumentals with a retro feel. They started in 2008 when David Esposito, the lead guitarist, decided to form a band that would pay tribute to the greats of surf music, like the Ventures, Los Straitjackets and Link Wray. He was joined by Rick Sanger on drums, and Jamie Huggins on bass.

Their music is full of catchy tunes, twangy guitars, groovy beats and some vocals here and there. They have three albums under their belt: Permanent Wave (2010), Wet Sounds (2013) and Motor Oil (2017). Some of their songs are “Yellow Jacket”, “Motor Oil”, “Surf-n-Turf” and “Shark Bite”. Tsunami of Sound has also played at many places and events, such as the Regent Theatre, the New England Surf Music Festival and the Surf Guitar 101 Convention.

They are not just copying the old surf bands, though. They also have their own style and influences. They like to mix surf music with other sounds, like rockabilly, spy music, spaghetti western and garage rock. They also listen to modern surf and instrumental bands, like the Fathoms, Laika and the Cosmonauts, the Mermen and Man or Astro-Man?. They want to make music that is fresh and fun.

Tsunami of Sound is a band that knows how to rock the surf. Their name says it all: they make big waves of sound that will make you feel the surf. Their slogan is “Surf’s Up!”
