It is always a great pleasure to have the man of a million voices, Billy West, home to the Boston area where his career began. Voice actor known for his work in Futurama, Ren & Stimpy, Doug, Space Jam, and as the Red M&M, Billy will be appearing at the Boston SouthCoast Comic Con & Collectibles Extravaganza July 22 and July 23 at the Hanover Mall Event Center in Hanover MA.
Billy will be appearing at the Comic Con to meet fans, sign autographs, and do photo ops. Not to mention making funny noises with his mouth (which is pretty much continuous) so – as Philip J. Fry says – just “shut up and take my money”.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Space Jam, Billy will be doing a special Q&A and screening of the film on Sunday July 23 at the adjacent Patriot Cinema complex at Hanover Mall. General admission is $12 and includes popcorn, drink, film and listening to Billy talk about making the film. VIP admission will be $50 and includes all that general admission receives plus Sundays admission to SouthCoast Comic Con and Billy’s autograph. The Q&A will be at 9:30 am prior to the screening with doors open at 9:00 am. Limited seating available.
Beginning his career in Boston on radio station WBCN, Billy went on to star on the Howard Stern show before his TV and film career took off. In fact 20 years ago, Bill filled the voice actor duties of the legendary Mel Blanc as Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd in Space Jam, which won numerous awards. Space Jam was also one of the very first movies promoted with a website back in 1996.
Billy got his network cartoon start on a recreated 1960s classic called Beany & Cecil, and once he started on Nickelodeon as Doug Funnie. He then became a household ear bug as the voices of Ren & Stimpy, and continued on to appear on every cartoon series made since the 1990s for Warner Brothers, Disney, Nickelodeon and many independents.
