Ken Reid will be interviewing Celebrity Guests on the main stage for his podcast “TV Guidance Counselor” including Kevin Chapman, Bai Ling, Gina Schock of The Go-Gos and cast members of “Growing Pains” Tracey Gold, Jeremy Miller and Julie McCullough on Saturday March 9 between 10 am and 4:00 pm on the Courtyard Stage.
’Kens journey into comedy began during his time as a student at Goldsmiths, University of London in the UK. There, he discovered his passion for stand-up comedy and honed his skills on the British stage. In 2003, Reid returned to his hometown of Boston and quickly became a regular performer at the Comedy Studio in Cambridge, Massachusetts. His witty observations, relatable humor, and unique storytelling style endeared him to audiences. Reid was also part of the comedy troupe The Untrainables, a group of stand-up performers associated with ImprovBoston. His performances showcased a blend of clever wordplay, personal anecdotes, and a keen eye for the absurd.
Over the years, Ken Reid has left his mark on the Boston comedy scene. He was twice nominated as the “Best Comedian in Boston” by the now-defunct Boston Phoenix. As the regular Friday night host at the Comedy Studio, Reid brought laughter to countless patrons. However, his creativity extended beyond the stage. In 2014, he launched his own podcast called “TV Guidance Counselor”, where he and fellow comedians discuss viewing choices from old editions of TV Guide. The show features a delightful mix of nostalgia, pop culture, and hilarious commentary. Guests have included notable figures like Amy Sedaris, Vanessa Angel, and Kumail Nanjiani. Additionally, Reid became the host and co-creator of “The Member’s Lounge,” a variety talk show that further showcased his versatility.
Beyond comedy, Ken Reid has a fascinating musical background. He was a member of the mid-1990s Boston punk band: 30 Seconds Over Tokyo. This band emerged from the same scene as other notable acts like Dropkick Murphys, The Ducky Boys, and The Unseen. Reid’s ability to seamlessly blend humor and music reflects his multifaceted talents. In 2018, he gained viral attention for an exchange with conservative pundit Ann Coulter. Whether on stage, behind the mic, or engaging in unexpected conversations, Ken Reid continues to entertain and surprise audiences with his wit and charm
