Sci-fi, fantasy and horror artist Bob Eggleton will be appearing at the NorthEast ComicCon Holiday Shopping Extravaganza November 24-26, 2023!
Eggleton has been creating stunning illustrations for books, magazines, comics, films and games for 30 plus years. He is widely recognized as one of the leading artists in the genre, having won nine Hugo Awards, a Chesley Award, and a Rondo Award. He draws inspiration from the use of light, color and scale of classic masters of art, such as JMW Turner and John Martin.
Bob Eggleton’s work covers a wide range of topics, often depicting dinosaurs, dragons, giant monsters, space vistas, vintage rocket ships and more. He’s a master at creating realistic and immersive worlds that capture the imagination of the viewers. He is especially known for his love of Godzilla and other kaiju, which he has illustrated for various media projects, including Dark Horse Comics, Random House Godzilla books, IDW’s Godzilla comic series and Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine. He has also worked as a concept artist on films such as Sphere (1997), Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius (2001) and The Ant Bully (2006).
One of Eggleton’s most recent projects is a series of paintings based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft, the influential horror writer who created the Cthulhu Mythos. A longtime Lovecraft fan, he had always wanted to illustrate his stories. He has created several paintings that depict the cosmic horrors and ancient evils that lurk in Lovecraft’s universe, such as Cthulhu, Nyarlathotep, Azathoth and Yog-Sothoth. He’s painted scenes from some of Lovecraft’s most famous stories, The Call of Cthulhu, The Dunwich Horror, and At the Mountains of Madness.
Another recent project that Bob Eggleton has been involved in is the IX Gallery, an online platform that showcases the best of contemporary imaginative realism. Eggleton is one of the founding artists of the gallery, along with other renowned artists such as Donato Giancola, Greg Hildebrandt, Jody Lee and Manuel Sanjulian. The gallery features original paintings, drawings and sculptures that explore the realms of fantasy, science fiction, horror and mythology. Eggleton has exhibited several of his paintings at the gallery, such as Face in Space, Hyperborea – Cliff City, The Odd Moon and Kong vs T-Rex.
Eggleton is also a prolific author, having written and illustrated several books of his own. Some of his books include Alien Horizons, The Book of Sea Monsters, Greetings from Earth, Dragonhenge, Primal Darkness, The Star Dragons and Dragons’ Domain. These books showcase his amazing art and his creative vision, as well as his knowledge and enthusiasm for various subjects, such as astronomy, paleontology, folklore and history. Eggleton’s books are not only entertaining, but also educational and inspirational.
As the films poster artist, Bob Eggleton will be appearing alongside Iké Boys director Eric McEver for a special film screening of his movie on Friday, November 24 at 8:30pm, and Saturday, November 25 at 3:00pm in the Seminar Room.
