From the Wizarding World of JK Rowling’s classic Harry Potter Series, Chris Rankin brought the character of Percy Weasley alive from the pages in 6 of the franchise films, and has pursued a role behind the scenes in movies and the theatre. Coming all the way from the UK to make his first New England appearance at the NorthEast ComicCon & Collectibles Extravaganza March 15-17 at the Regency Hotel and Conference Center in Boxboro, MA.
Chris Rankin began acting at the age of eleven with his professional acting career beginning when he won the role of Percy Weasley in September 2000 when he was 17 years old. In the Harry Potter series, he plays a brother of Harry Potter‘s best friend, Ron Weasley.
He was first seen in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and continued his role in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. His character was cut from the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, but he returned to the role in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. He also had an uncredited cameo in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and returned to play Percy again in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
While Chris as Percy may have stepped away from the movies, his show biz career hasn’t vanished. The actor took the skills that he learned on the movie sets to find work behind the scenes (and cameras) working as a production secretary on on the BBC show Atlantis. He was also an assistant production coordinator on the popular series Downton Abbey. Beginning as a child actor, he had to pivot properly to stay in the business he enjoyed so much.
