Rare Appearances by Comic Legends at NorthEast ComicCon March 7-9, 2025

Roy Thomas, legendary Marvel Editor, writer, and creator, will be making a rare appearance. He will be signing books and other flat items for any donation to his charity (10 items at a time) all day Saturday and Sunday, March 8 & 9. Don’t miss his career retrospective on stage!

Thomas, the protégé of Stan Lee, has been a prominent writer and editor for Marvel and DC Comics since 1965. At Marvel, he worked exclusively from 1965 to 1980, serving as editor-in-chief from 1972 to 1974 and co-creating iconic characters such as Wolverine, Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel), Vision, and Luke Cage. He has written numerous series, including The Avengers, X-Men, and Conan the Barbarian. In the 1980s, Thomas co-wrote screenplays for Fire and Ice and Conan the Destroyer, and contributed to both live-action and animated TV series like Xena: Warrior Princess and GI Joe. Currently, he edits the award-winning Alter Ego magazine, writes adventure comic strips for Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., and still occasionally contributes to Marvel Comics. From 2000 to 2019, he ghost-wrote the Spider-Man newspaper strip for Stan Lee. He has authored significant works for Taschen and other publishers, and was inducted into the Will Eisner Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Harvey Awards Hall of Fame in 2022. Thomas, who lives with his wife Dann and their many pets in rural South Carolina, can be followed by joining the Roy Thomas Appreciation Board private group on Facebook.

Joining him is Gerry Conway, Marvel and DC writer and creator of The Punisher. Conway will also be appearing all day Saturday and Sunday, March 8 & 9, alongside a career retrospective on stage.

Conway began his professional writing career in 1968, just before turning 16. Initially mentored by Dick Giordano at DC Comics, Conway moved to Marvel Comics in 1970, where he was mentored by Roy Thomas. Notably, Conway wrote for series such as Daredevil, Iron Man, The Mighty Thor, and The Amazing Spider-Man, co-creating characters like the Punisher and contributing to significant storylines such as “The Night Gwen Stacy Died.” He also co-created characters like Werewolf By Night and Man-Thing. At DC Comics, Conway wrote for titles including The Justice League of America and Batman, co-creating characters such as Power Girl and Killer Croc. He published science fiction novels under the name Gerard F. Conway and collaborated with Roy Thomas on screenplays for Fire and Ice and Conan the Destroyer. Conway also worked extensively in TV, producing and writing for shows like “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.” Currently, he lives in Southern California with his wife Laura, frequently attends conventions, and enjoys family life with his daughters, son-in-law, grandson, and dog Krypto.
