Marianne Plumridge is an Australian-born artist and writer who currently resides in Rhode Island with her husband, Bob Eggleton, who is an illustrator. Their home is filled with over a thousand Godzilla monster toys, dinosaurs, dragons, and other creatures figurines, making it a creative atmosphere where inspiration is never lost for long. The house is also occupied by numerous books, paintings, art materials, and CDs.
In recent years, Marianne has returned to her fine art roots by refining her oil painting techniques. She has been combining birds and robots into an ongoing series of paintings, where technology is lost in nature, including quirky tin toy robot adventures, which have been well-received. Marianne’s other themes of cosmic whales and pointy rocket-ship paintings still enjoy success and popular favor. These works can be found online at the blog “Daub du Jour”.
Recently, Marianne Plumridge has revived her interest in figurative works and portraits, where she is exploring painting people again. She also writes book reviews and notes on her second blog, “Muse du Jour,” in connection with her long-held writing ambitions. Over the years, Marianne’s articles, essays, and finished works of fiction have been published in magazines and anthologies.
Marianne worked on the complete text for a book called “Bob Eggleton’s Ice Age America” in collaboration with her husband, which features essays and epic artwork and visions of prehistoric peoples, megafauna, flora, and especially Mammoths and Mastodons. Marianne and Bob’s first collaboration as writer and artist, a children’s picture book called “If Dinosaurs Lived In My Town,” was released in November 2013 from Sky Pony Press. Additionally, a rocket painting of Marianne Plumridge was featured on the cover of Analog Science Fiction & Fact, November-December 2017 issue.
