Droid collector Steve Kelley brings a variety of full sized Kelley’s Droids for photo ops to the Cabin Fever show! Steve’s first love as a kid was of course Star Trek, though being a typical kid he also loved Dinosaurs. In the early 70s he began collecting the Aurora Prehistoric Scenes dinosaur models. He now has one of the nicest and most complete model collections around.
In May of 1977, Steve fell in love with another iconic Sci-Fi franchise when Star Wars was released in theaters on May 25th. He amassed, and sadly lost, a very large and impressive Star Wars collection in the 90s. Having always dreamed of owning an actual life size working R2-D2, his dreams came true with an incredible collectors trade, and obtained the most famous Droid in the world. It was a great moment – adding an actual 1:1 life size working R2-D2 to a very large and growing R2-D2 collection! Since owning R2-D2, he’s since added an additional life size 3D printed R2-D2, a BB8, a Mouse Droid, a Gonk Droid, and more to the family.
Steve, along with wife Leticia, have taken advantage of the honor of owning such an iconic and lovable droid collection with attending events and conventions. In addition, Kelley’s Droids bring some much needed love and smiles to kids events and children’s hospital!
Best known for his connection with Star Trek, Steve has been recognized as New England’s Super Trekkie, with owning one of the largest Star Trek collections. He’s authored both a Star Trek collectibles book and a magazine!
