NorthEast ComicCon & Collectibles Extravaganza is proud to continue the tradition of mixing Comics with our comics, presenting another fun element to the March 15-17 show with ComicsCon Stand-up Comedy Battle Royale for fame, glory and prize money.
Who will kill the competition and slay the audience becoming the last surviving comic taking home $100 prize each day (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) based on strictly the response of the ravaged crowd. With a $500 prize on the line for the finals on Sunday where the 3 daily winners compete to take the money, maybe the pros can be defeated by a newcomer, an up-and-comer or an unknown. The audience will decide their fate and shoot down the final two leaving one standing on the island known as the Regency Hotel.
Amateurs and Professionals are invited to the ComicsCon Comedy Battle Royale, a competition to find the funniest person to stand up on a stage during a weekend of bizarre activities, and entertain strangers potentially dressed as Batman or a Princess Mashup.
Wiki describes these “genres” of comedy, so if you create any of these you are eligible to compete and possibly in 7 minutes of your time you could win the money:
NEComicCon also includes exhibitors offering all forms of pop culture items, celebrity guests signing autographs and offering photo ops with fans (both for a fee) including comic great Gilbert Gottfried appearing all weekend, plus TV and movie stars such as Gigi Edgley (Farscape), Nicholas Brendon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Chris Rankin (Harry Potter films), Mark Goddard (Lost In Space) and Ann Robinson (1953’s War of the Worlds), along with comic book artists, authors and creators. Boston’s venerable comedy flavored rockers The FOOLS perform Saturday evening at the afterparty included in admission.
The ComicsCon Battle Royale admission is included in all NEComicCon admissions and the Schedule will be posted of who is performing where and when so you don’t miss any of the action.
If you are a comic, wanna be a comic or think you have 7 minutes of nerve to stand up and make other people laugh, and you’d like to try to make some money doing it, then parachute into the frenzy and try your luck.
THE RUN DOWN
Comedians will be competing in preliminary rounds leading up to the daily final round with the daily winners each taking home $100 and the right to compete on Sunday when the three best comedians from the weekend will duke it out to be crowned the best comedian of Northeast ComicCon and take home $500 more.
THE SET-UP
Each contestant will sign up for a time slot where you will compete against up to six other comedians. Each comedian will be given seven minutes to bring their act to the audience. Each comedian will be judged based solely off of audience reaction and applause at the end of each preliminary. The comedian with the loudest approval from the audience will advance to that day’s semi-finals to complete against the top comedians from each preliminary that day. The winner of the each daily semi-final will be awarded $100, and advance to the finals on Sunday at 4:00pm where they will go up against the two other finalists for a chance to win another $500!
WHERE AND WHEN
The event will be happening over St. Patrick’s Day weekend, March 15th-17th, at the Regency Hotel in Boxboro, MA.
ENTRY FEE
The entry fee for the event will be $20 and will also get each comedian a weekend pass to the NorthEast ComicCon event including Concerts AfterParties. Upon completion of a form, the submitting comedian will be sent an e-mail link for to sign up.
ANYTHING ELSE?
Since the voting is done by the audience in each preliminary, semi-final and in the final, Comedians are encouraged to promote their appearance on their social media in order to get their fans and family in the audience to cheer for them.
