As a singer and actor, Smith has established a successful career based on his natural singing ability. The albums he has released include a self-titled studio album, “Where Do We Go From Here”, “Sooner Or Later”, “Forever”, and “Camouflage”, as well as most recently, “Simply…Rex”.

A veteran of stage and screen, he turned to Broadway at the height of his popularity, when he became Danny Zuko in the original production of “Grease.” His memorable portrayal of Frederick in “The Pirates of Penzance” on Broadway won him the Theater World Award. Among his other Broadway credits are “Grand Hotel”, “Sunset Boulevard”, “The Scarlet Pimpernel”, “Annie Get Your Gun”, and “Kiss, Me Kate”.

Smith’s performance is filled with energy. His career expanded beyond Broadway shows to include TV shows and feature films. The popular CBS daytime drama “As The World Turns” made Rex a household name while he hosted “Solid Gold” and starred in “Street Hawk”. Danielle Steele featured him in “Once In A Lifetime”, “Passion To Kill”, and “Ballerina And The Blues”. Many prime-time television shows and movies have starred Rex, including Daredevil, “The Sentinel”, “JAG”, “Baywatch”, “Caroline In The City”, “Just Cause”, “Pope Dreams”, and John Schneider’s “Collier & Co.”

Smith’s career includes work as a Celebrity Host, Corporate Spokesperson, and Entertainer for organizations such as Time-Life Inc., HBO, Avon Corp., and Time Magazine, among others. He continues to support arts education and participate in community theaters and schools across the country, including “An Evening with Rex Smith” at the Concert Company Theater, “Pirates of Penzance” at the Carpenter Theater for the Performing Arts, and “Pirates of Penzance” at the Bellflower Theater.

Rex recently perform to sold-out crowds ed at the Araneta Coliseum and The Hard Rock Cafe in Manila, Philippines. He then hosted “Operation Homecoming” for Vietnam Veterans in Branson, Missouri, where his heartfelt performance mesmerized audiences into standing ovations. Rex has also performed for concert venues including the Big-E State Fair in Springfield, MA., and most recently has revved up audiences with the “Original Idols” in Las Vegas.

The year 2008 finds balladeer Rex Smith again visiting Manila, Philippines, with a series of concerts aptly named, “From Rex, With Love,” as well as a new CD entitled, “Back to Basics.”

It is rare that an entertainer has covered every aspect of show business to the extent that Rex has. A self-professed “Stand-Up Vocalist”, Rex combines tales of his career with the songs that made him famous. Gregarious and humorous, he radiates positive energy on stage. Audiences are captivated and enthralled by Rex’s charismatic personality.

Rex enjoys cooking, flying biplanes, collecting vintage cars, and writing songs. His five children are his pride and joy.
