If you grew up watching the hit sitcom Growing Pains in the 80s and 90s, you probably remember Ben Seaver, the youngest son of the Seaver family, played by Jeremy Miller. He was the cute and mischievous kid who often got into trouble and made us laugh with his witty remarks and hilarious expressions.
A Child Star with Many Talents
Miller was born on October 21, 1976 in Covina, California. He started acting at a young age, appearing in commercials and guest roles in shows like Punky Brewster and Ghostwriter. He also voiced Linus van Pelt in two Peanuts specials: Happy New Year, Charlie Brown! and Snoopy!!! The Musical. His big break came in 1985, when he was cast as Ben Seaver on Growing Pains, a family comedy that ran for seven seasons and won several awards. Only nine years old when he joined the show, he quickly became a fan favorite. Jeremy won two Young Artist Awards for his performance, and was nominated for two more. He also starred in two reunion movies based on the show, in 2000 and 2004.
Growing Pains was not the only project that Miller worked on during his childhood. He appeared in several movies, such as Emanon, The Willies, Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star, and Based on an Untrue Story. He participated in a special celebrity episode of Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?, competing against other young stars like Mayim Bialik and Tatyana Ali.
A Passion for Cooking and Helping Others
After Growing Pains, Jeremy Miller decided to take a break from acting and pursue other interests. He attended the University of Southern California for a year, where he studied drama. He then enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at Le Cordon Bleu, and became a chef. He started his own catering company called No Small Affair, and also worked for other catering companies in Los Angeles. He also taught private and group cooking classes, and shared his recipes and tips on his website and social media.
Miller also faced some personal challenges in his life, such as alcohol abuse and depression. He revealed that he started drinking at a very young age, and struggled with addiction for years. He eventually sought treatment, and received an implant that released a drug called Naltrexone into his system, which helped him overcome his cravings. He became a spokesperson for Fresh Start Private Management Inc., the company that administered his treatment, and shared his story with the public. He also became an advocate for mental health awareness, and supported various charities and causes.
A Return to the Spotlight
In recent years, Miller has resumed his acting career, and appeared in several projects, such as Milk and Fashion, Never Have I Ever, Ditching Party, and True to the Game. He also starred in a commercial for McDonald’s Dollar Menunaires promotion, and a documentary about the rock band The Fools. He also joined the cast of two new shows: The Comeback Kids, a comedy about former child stars, and 3rd Eye, a paranormal suspense drama.
