Described as “a love letter to Robin Williams” by Kabler himself, “Being Robin” tells the story of a man who believes he is possessed by the spirit of the beloved comedian. Whether he is truly at the center of a spiritual event or he is delusional, he mounts an hysterical and touching stage tribute to Williams that becomes a hit around America. Fans will have the opportunity to meet and interact with Kabler and pick up a signed DVD of “Being Robin” as a great gift, especially for people who love Robin Williams.
I love to perform live. It is a communion with an audience. I have always been into the theatre. The form I’m doing is more like partially scripted performance art, that way I let ideas and characters move through me, in much the same way that Robin Williams did with improvisational and unplanned happenings. It’s very alive… You can witness that dynamic in my film Being Robin – Roger Kabler speaking about his live comedy performance.
As one of the country’s most talented comedy impressionists, Kabler has built a successful career in television and film. From serving as Zima’s spokesman to starring in his own NBC sitcom, Rhythm and Blues, Kabler has left a lasting impact on the entertainment industry. Kabler’s television career began in the early 90s, when he was chosen as the spokesman for Zima, a clear malt beverage that was popular at the time. He appeared in a series of commercials, showcasing his comedic talents and quickly gaining recognition in the industry.
In 1991, Kabler had the opportunity to appear on Carol Burnett’s last series, a momentous occasion for any aspiring comedian. He was able to showcase his impressions of some of the biggest names in entertainment, impressing both Burnett and audiences alike. Roger Kabler’s big break came in the form of his own NBC sitcom, Rhythm and Blues. Starring as the lead, Kabler was able to showcase his comedic abilities and impressions to a wider audience. The show ran for one season, and though it was not renewed, it solidified Kabler as a household name.
In addition to his television career, Kabler has also had success in film. He wrote, produced, and starred in the award-winning movie Who the Hell Is Bobby Roos?, a comedy about a man who believes he is the reincarnation of a famous comedian. The film was praised for its comedic elements and Kabler’s ability to portray multiple characters.
Recently, Kabler has been performing across the United States and Canada. Variety magazine described him as an astounding impressionist, praising his ability to capture the mannerisms and vocal inflections of some of the biggest names in entertainment.
