Tracey Gold is an actress and former child star who is best known for her role as Carol Seaver on the hit sitcom Growing Pains, which aired from 1985 to 1992. Her acting career began at the age of four, when she first appeared in a Pepsi print ad. Throughout her career, Tracey appeared in many commercials and TV shows, including canceled series Shirley, with Shirley Jones in 1979, and Goodnight Beantown, starring Bill Bixby in 1983. Tracey Gold was originally cast as the youngest daughter in the original pilot for the sitcom Gimme a Break! She also starred in several made-for-TV movies, including For the Love of Nancy, Sleep Baby Sleep, and Stolen Innocence.
Not limiting herself only to television, Tracey has also ventured into feature films and theatre. She co-starred in several features such as Shoot the Moon (opposite Albert Finney and Diane Keaton), Best of Times (with Robin Williams and Kurt Russell) and Wanted and Tailspin.
In addition to her acting work, Tracey Gold is also an advocate for eating disorder awareness and recovery. She struggled with anorexia nervosa during the peak of her fame, and nearly died from the condition in 1992. She later wrote a memoir based on her struggles titled Room to Grow: An Appetite for Life. In 2011, Tracey hosted a reality show called Starving Secrets, which documented the journey of 10 girls suffering from eating disorders as they navigated their own treatment and recovery. She has spoken publicly about her experience and offered support to others who are suffering.
