Bai Ling is a Chinese-American actress and musician who has appeared in many films and TV shows in both China and the United States. She was born in Chengdu, China, on October 10, 1966, and began her career as a performer in the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, where she entertained soldiers in Tibet for three years. She later moved to New York City to pursue acting and studied at the Lee Strasberg Institute.
Bai has appeared in many films and TV shows in both China and the United States, working with acclaimed directors such as Oliver Stone, George Lucas, Spike Lee, Ang Lee, and Luc Besson. She is best known for her roles in films such as The Crow, Red Corner, Crank: High Voltage, Dumplings, Wild Wild West, Anna and the King, Southland Tales, and Maximum Impact. She has also appeared in TV shows such as Entourage, Lost, and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.
Bai Ling has received several awards and nominations for her acting, especially for her performance in the film Dumplings, which earned her the Best Supporting Actress awards at the Hong Kong Film Awards, the Golden Horse Awards, and the Golden Bauhinia Awards. She has received the Spirit Diversity Award by the Hollywood Motion Picture Association and the Asian Oscar for her performance in her first Hong Kong film Three… Extremes. Bai has also been recognized for her diversity and creativity by the Hollywood Motion Picture Association and the Asian American Arts Foundation.
In addition to her acting career, Bai Ling has also pursued a musical career. She has released several singles and albums, such as “Hu Guai” (Rebel), “Shenme Shi Hou” (When), and “Love Myself”. She has also collaborated with artists such as DMX, Moby, and Die Antwoord. Bai is currently working on several upcoming projects, such as The Magnificent Raiders of Dimension War One, Werewolf Game, and My Quarantine Romance with Toilet paper.
