Cliff Goodwin is a renowned guitarist who was born in Worcester, MA. He started playing guitar as a teenager and was influenced by the Beatles and the British blues scene. He formed several bands in his hometown, such as The Exit Left, The End, Appleton’s Journal, and Albatross.
He joined Joe Cocker’s band, The American Standard Band, and toured and recorded with him for over a decade. He played on some of Cocker’s biggest hits, such as “Shelter Me”, “Leave Your Hat On”, “Fun Time” and “Up Where We Belong”. He also worked with Robert Palmer on his “Secrets” album and played guitar on his hit “Bad Case Of Loving You (Doctor Doctor)”.
He decided to settle down in his hometown and play with local bands, such as Jon Butcher Axis, The Silverbacks, The Mohegan Sun All-Stars, Christine Ohlman and Rebel Montez, James Montgomery, and others. He enjoys playing in small venues and connecting with the audience.
He released his first solo album, “Cliff Goodwin: The Rhythm & Blues Union”, featuring some of his longtime musician friends. He released his second solo album, “Double It Up”, which he recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, the same place where the Beatles made many of their classic songs. He considers this a dream come true and a tribute to his musical heroes.
